This case study focuses on personal trainer marketing for anyone who is a personal
trainer looking to get found online. We built an online presence (persona*) using blogs and video that
attracted private clients and helped fill her exercises classes. When you build a presence in this way people find
you - you don't have to go out looking for them.
An online persona* can work for life coaches, speakers, personal trainers and
anyone with an expertise in a particular field. Even professionals looking for a job!
In this case study I highlight North London Personal Trainer Anne Iarchy
who I started working with on 10th June 2010
Before working with me Anne had a website for her business AI Fitness and a blog
on blogger which started in 2009.

My focus with Anne was to get referrals for her exercises classes in Mill Hill
and as I started towards the end of her summer classes I decided to focus on building a September exercise class. I
introduced Anne to online marketing and the importance of building a subscriber base as well as how she could build
a second income using information products.
Below is an outline of what has happened.
When it comes to getting your local business found online the keyword phrases you
use are the very foundation of everything. If you get these wrong the people searching for your products and
services will not find you and you will waste hours online for little or no results.
Too many local business owners take a guess at what phrases people might be using and
if you are a personal trainer you can start with the phrase personal trainer plus your local area but you miss out
on other potential customers if you only focus on that one and are not using otherrelevant
keyword phrases
Building an online presence (Persona*)
When building a persona for a professional client the first thing I do is build
three very important profiles:
All the work I undertake now is about building content on the blog and video site as
well as building links to all three sites. As the video site and Google Profile point back to the blog that gets
the most attention in terms of links, which helps to pick it up in the search engines. This part ofpersonal trainer

Link building for local search
While writing keyword rich blog posts definitely helped in getting the blog
noticed quickly I was also busy adding Anne around the internet in different places. By performing link building
for local search I built up a number of links from other sites back to Anne.
This kind of link building is essential because the search engines rate your website or blog on

Along with all of these sites the blog is added to online web directories on a
regular basis and articles are written and sent out to article directories as well as the video content being sent
out using a video syndication service.

We have now reached our first month and this is what has happened so
far:
Anne has a Youtube account with videos that appear in the search
engines
Anne has a blog with regular content being added every few days
Anne is now on the front page for her keywords
She has an email marketing campaign set up to build her subscriber list and
has sent out her first newsletter
She is on Twitter and has a Facebook Fanpage
She has profiles on a number of online directories and online business
directories
Her blog has been submitted to different web directories and verified by all
the search engines
Her Google Places profile is now showing up in two sections for her
keywords
